A hotel photo, artist's view. 2007

The Hotels Paris Rive Gauche group invites one photographer per month to spend a night in a hotel of his choice in Paris. In return, a photographer is asked to photograph his hotel experience summed up in one single photo. I gave them a photo of my hotel bed, and a dream I dreamed in it.

It was a warm summer day. I met Catherine Deneuve. She was quietly sitting on grass enjoying the view of a river. Standing next to her was an open case filled with professional makeup products. It was a moment of peace between takes. She was all by herself when I came up to her. “Excuse me, Madame, but I just wanted to say hello. I’m Yury, a photographer. We were in touch.” She turned her head my way, looked at me, smiled and said “Hello, I remember you”. I told her I wanted to photograph her. She agreed. And there, I woke up.
